The Prestolite Electric PowerPro Extreme 5 12V Starters are engineered to meet major OE specifications and are available for Detroit Diesel DD5 5.1L and DD8 7.7L engine models. Featuring a planetary gear reduction design for higher torque/speed and less power consumption, the starter is a replacement alternative for a variety of medium duty vehicles operating in a variety of extreme environments, including a full range of pickup and delivery, construction, refuse, fire and rescue applications, and school buses. The starter also features a Soft-Start Relay technology to help prevent ring gear damage and Integral Magnetic Switch (IMS) technology to help eliminate voltage drop.
