VSP News: Kolman's Korner, Episode 31 - Optronics and LED vehicle lighting

An overview of the shift from incandescent light bulbs to light emitting diodes (LEDs) in the vehicle lighting industry.

In this installment, Fleet Maintenance editor David A. Kolman visits with Brett Johnson, president and CEO of Optronics International, a leading worldwide manufacturer and supplier of industrial and commercial vehicular safety lighting products. They discuss the reasons why incandescent light bulbs are being replaced for vehicle lighting by LEDs (light emitting diodes) and talk about the company’s GloLight Series of lamps which take a different approach to visual presentation.

Kolman and Johnson also converse on how Optronics has leveraged advancements in diode technology and optic design techniques to achieve the diffused outer ring that gives the GloLight lamps their signature look that fundamentally changes the appearance of any vehicle they adorn.
