Dayton Parts announced the launch of the company's CargoMaxx HD suspension coil springs line at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 2020.

Dayton Parts enters medium duty coil spring suspension market through RMW acquisition

Jan. 31, 2020
Expanding on its leaf spring suspension focus, Dayton Parts will now offer a comprehensive line of coil spring suspensions, CargoMaxx HD, for the light and medium duty vocational market.

Suspension manufacturer and supplier Dayton Parts announced the completed acquisition of RMW Industries. RMW is known for its extensive coil spring suspension line, with more than 40 years of custom coil spring design and manufacturing experience.

As a result of the acquisition, Dayton Parts recently introduced its CargoMaxx HD coil spring suspension line.

Paul Anderson, president and CEO of Dayton Parts, advised the coil spring offering serves a market looking to upgrade its factory coil spring suspensions with an enhanced aftermarket option.

“Now, we can offer something that is an upgrade over the OE,” Anderson said. He confirmed the CargoMaxx HD coil spring lineup will include 51 SKUs for most light and medium duty vehicle applications through 2020 model year vehicles. This includes half-ton, three-quarter-ton, and one-ton pickups and vans. The primary market for the CargoMaxx HD line is contractors.

Anderson confirmed the majority – about 90 percent - of Dayton Parts’ sales are aftermarket.

“We thought it as important to not only leaf springs but also coils, because there is a technological shift from leaf springs to coils on light duty vehicles, and pick-ups in particular,” Anderson said.

According to Anderson, Dodge began offering a coil spring suspension specification more than a decade ago – including the OE’s three-quarter-ton and one-ton pickup trucks. Ford and General Motors (GM) will likely adopt this technology as well in the next five years, he said.

Additionally, Dayton Parts looks to expand the line in the future.

“There are some newer applications where we’ll be adding more common passenger vans like the (Ford) Transit Connect to really fill the line out on all the remaining applications,” Anderson said.

The CargoMaxx HD line is available for order now, with same-day shipping fulfillment. Dayton offers one- and two-day shipping options.
