Current traditional methods per engine side are about an hour per stud/bolt, with some taking more, and some less, so that’s an average.

Q: What is the average time it takes to repair a broken exhaust manifold stud?

A: Current traditional methods per engine side are about an hour per stud/bolt, with some taking more, and some less, so that’s an average. We studied over 27 repairs involving extracting 132 damaged studs in Ford, GM and Dodge engines. We found the range of time it took to extract a broken bolt or stud decreased significantly from about an hour per stud, to an average per stud extraction time of about 12 minutes. That represents over a 70 percent drop in repair times with the ProMAXX solution versus traditional methods. Plan on two days for making a repair on the FORD 6.8L V10 gas and FORD 6.0/6.4L (International) diesel engine. They take longer due to increased heat and torque these engines involve. In these cases, the ProMaxx solution can aid in making the repair much less, about 10-16 hours less, depending on the application, thereby delivering real savings in time and money.
