More than two months after Fleet Maintenance’s editor, David A. Kolman, severely shattered his left kneecap (patella) in a freak accident, his orthopedic doctor has placed him back in service, observing that “the knee has been healing nicely. However,” he advised Kolman, “you need to not overdo.”

“No running, jumping or twerking, I assume?,” asked Kolman. “Absolutely not,” the doctor replied sternly.

Kolman was told to call the doctor if he had any problems with the knee. Otherwise, he was instructed to return in a month for a final look at the knee to make sure it was fine.

“Oh happy day,” Kolman expressed with glee, and away from the doctor’s office he strutted, in the odd manner in which his old war-injured legs could move him along.
