Kolman’s Korner: Who loves coffee the most?

April 20, 2015
A ranking of vocations that crave coffee.

If you have ever been to a magazine’s or a newspaper’s editorial office, you no doubt have noted numerous coffee makers and coffee cups. That’s because we journalists and editors truly enjoy our coffee, and not that flavored stuff.

I was surprised to learn that journalists/editors consume the most amount of coffee daily. So finds a recent survey of some 10,000 people that was conducted by public relations firm Pressat.

Eighty-five percent of the survey respondents reported that they drink at least three cups of coffee a day.

The company said it seems that coffee is particularly “popular” in stressful careers, such as law enforcement, where most workers reported drinking four cups or more each day.

According to survey, here are the top 10 coffee-consuming professions:

1.  Journalists and media staff.

2.  Police officers.

3.  Teachers.

4.  Plumbers and trade workers.

5.  Nurses and medical staff.

6. Company executives.

7. Telesales.

8. IT technical support.

9. Retail staff.

10. Drivers.

The survey apparently didn’t go to those in fleet maintenance operations.
