Kolman’s Komments: We’re going to need trillions of dollars for this project

Enormous infrastructure investment needed.

Brace yourself. The U.S. needs to invest $1.4 trillion in infrastructure improvements between now and 2025 and $5.2 trillion by 2040.

So says a recent report from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

The organization says that without increased infrastructure spending, the deteriorating infrastructure will cause longer traffic jams, extra operational and vehicle and maintenance costs and higher shipping costs.

Beyond that, the ASCE says the shoddy state of the nation's roads and bridges has a “cascading impact” on the economy, “impacting business productivity, gross domestic product, employment, personal income and international competitiveness.”

Not a good thing, except maybe for the fleet maintenance industry.
