Safety should always be a top priority for any vehicle maintenance and repair shop.
The month of June is a good time to reevaluate safety measures, but not just at work. June is National Safety Month.
Sponsored by the National Safety Council – an organization that works to eliminate preventable deaths through leadership, research, education and advocacy – the objective of the observance is to raise awareness of what it takes to keep each other safe.
Observed annually in June, National Safety Month focuses on reducing leading causes of injury and death at work, on the road, in homes and in communities.
Statistics
“Injuries are a leading cause of disability for people of all ages, and they are the leading cause of death for Americans ages 1 to 44,” says the Council.
It cites Bureau of Labor Statistics on fatal occupational injuries that determined that 4,821 people – more than 13 per day – died while doing their job and says “implementing safety measures can change these statistics.”
Make a difference as part of National Safety Month. Spread the word about ways to reduce the risk of injuries, share information about steps people can take to protect themselves and others and help encourage others to identify and report safety hazards.
