The future of the mobile tool industry

Today if you don’t have either a Facebook page or a website, you are competing against the internet without being in the fight.

As the battle continues over who has the cheapest price, the mobile tool truck continues to offer top-notch customer service and professional products. These dealers are growing in numbers, even as the market is changing. With gas prices staying low across the U.S., the margins of the dealer may shrink. This creates an opportunity for a dealer to sell volume. Mobile dealers who will survive, survive because they have diversified their businesses. They have a tool truck, a website, and a store front, or any combination of these three. The mobile business is changing and we should change with it.

Five years ago few mobile dealers had a website or a Facebook page. Today if you don’t have either, you are competing against the internet without being in the fight. In today’s market end users are more price conscious than ever. The internet drives down the cost of goods, and the dealers are feeling the effect. The age old saying “if you cant beat em, join em” has never rang more true. Facebook is a cost free web solution that can change a mobile tool truck's viability. It is the way of the future... 

“Those between the ages of 18 and 24 look at their phones most often, with an average of 74 checks per day. Americans in the 25-34 age bracket look at their devices 50 times per day, and those between 35 and 44 do so 35 times each day.” Time Magazine 

Facebook is changing markets, day in and day out, and the mobile tool business is a great example. Some trucks today have a Facebook page or a website to complement their business. One strategy is to use social media as a vehicle to promote the dealers route. In doing this the dealer will gain a captive audience and a platform to sell from. When these business owners post a video or a sales ad on their page they generate buzz, not only making sales, but planting seeds for future sales. This platform gives the business an identity and it allows dealers and customers to connect on a personal level.

The mobile tool industry is changing and I believe the mobile tool dealer should change with it…
