Latest NHTSA recalls include Tesla Cybertruck, Ford, and Autocar

NHTSA put out several safety recalls for multiple commercial vehicle brands, including those for hoist cylinder mounting pins, hazard lights, and fusible links for certain Autocar brands, incorrect labels for some Ford Maverick models, and trapped Tesla acceleration pedals.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued safety recall notices for Autocar, Ford, and Tesla-branded vehicles.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Tesla Cybertruck models may experience unintended acceleration from trapped pedals

Tesla is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck vehicles. The accelerator pedal pad may dislodge and cause the pedal to become trapped by the interior trim. A trapped accelerator pedal can cause the vehicle to accelerate unintentionally, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 3,878 vehicles. Tesla service will replace or repair the accelerator pedal assembly. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in June. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-24-33-003.

Autocar DC dump trucks’ upper hoist cylinder mounting pin may fail

Autocar is recalling certain 2022-2023 DC (Legend) dump trucks. The upper hoist cylinder mounting pin may fail. A pin failure can allow the hoist to fall, increasing the risk of injury. In addition, the hoist cylinder can disconnect from the vehicle, becoming a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 41 vehicles. The remedy is currently under development. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 6. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is DC-2403.

Autocar DC vehicles’ hazard warning lights may not illuminate

Autocar is recalling certain 2020-2024 DC (Legend) vehicles. The hazard warning lights may not function independently of the ignition switch. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Warning lights that do not illuminate when the ignition switch is in the “off” position can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 398 vehicles. Dealers will update the software. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 6. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is DC-2402.

Autocar DC vehicles’ fusible links may cause fire

Autocar is recalling certain 2020-2024 DC (Legend) vehicles. The wiring harness may route fusible links too closely to other components. During a short circuit, this could cause the fusible link to ignite nearby material, increasing the risk of a fire.

This recall potentially affects 597 vehicles. Dealers will repair or replace the harness to include proper circuit protection. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 6. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is DC-2404.

Ford Maverick models may have incorrect tire and loading info

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2024 Maverick vehicles. The tire and loading information label may state the incorrect vehicle capacity, tire pressure, and spare tire size. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." Incorrect tire and capacity information may result in the vehicle being overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects nine vehicles. Ford will mail new labels. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 29. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24C08.

Ford Maverick models may experience loss of drive power from undetected low batteries

Ford is recalling certain 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles. The body and powertrain control modules may fail to detect a change in the 12-volt battery state of charge. An undetected low battery charge can result in a loss of electrical accessories such as hazard lights or cause a loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 456,565 vehicles. Dealers will recalibrate the body control module and powertrain control module. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 13. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 24S24.
