Early look at MY2026 pickups and vans

Next year’s light-duty trucks and vans bring updated powertrains, smarter safety systems, and technology features for commercial fleets.

Here’s a look at some of the latest light-duty trucks and vans on the market for commercial fleets in 2026. All of these models use conventional gasoline or diesel internal combustion engines.

Chevrolet Colorado

The Chevrolet midsize pickup sees minor updates in 2026, including a refreshed color lineup and two new wheel designs. Every trim comes standard with the 2.7L TurboMax engine, producing 310 hp and 430 lb.-ft. of torque, and it can tow up to 7,700 lb.

2026 Chevrolet Colorado features up to 17 different tie-down points and an available StowFlex tailgate, as well as tech features like an 11.3" infotainment screen, an 11" digital instrument cluster, up to 10 camera views, and an integrated trailering app. Standard Chevy Safety Assist adds forward collision alert, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keep assist.

Built for tough work environments, the Colorado offers five drive modes, including Terrain, Off-Road, Baja, and an available Tow/Haul mode, giving technicians and drivers versatility on and off the road.

Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is available in 10 different models (if you count the all-electric Silverado EV). Engine options include the 2.7L TurboMax (310 hp and 430 lb.-ft.), 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 (355 hp and 383 lb.-ft.), 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 (420 hp and 460 lb.-ft.), and the 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel (305 hp and 495 lb.-ft.). Maximum towing capacity is 13,300 lb., and payload reaches 2,260 lb.

The truck features up to 14 different camera views, including hitch view, bed view, and transparent trailer views, along with trailering safety technology such as a trailer blind spot alert and an integrated trailering app that allows operators to create different trailer profiles. Other technology  features include an available 13.4" infotainment screen, a 12.3" digital information cluster, a 15" head-up display, and more. Chevy Safety Assist, a package of six safety and driver assistance features, is standard with every 2026 Silverado 1500.

Depending on the trim, the Silverado 1500 can be equipped for off-road or jobsite use, with the Multi-Flex tailgate, 12 tie-downs, 89 cu. ft. of cargo volume, and a 120V outlet for powering tools and equipment.

Chevrolet Silverado HD

The Chevrolet Silverado HD lineup features the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and 3500, which are available in six different models, from the more basic Work Truck (WT) trim to the heavily appointed High Country. The truck features two different engine options: the Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel and the 6.6L V8 gas. The diesel offers 470 hp and 975 lb.-ft. of torque with 36,000 maximum trailering weight, while the gas engine offers 401 hp and 464 lb.-ft. of torque with 19,080 lb. maximum trailering weight. A diesel-powered Silverado HD 2500 has a maximum towing capacity of 22,070 lb. 

The Silverado HD includes eight cameras with up to 14 different views, including hitch view, transparent trailer, and a bed view, while an integrated trailering app allows operators to save custom trailer profiles. The truck features a 13.4" infotainment screen, 12.3" digital information cluster, and more. In addition to the six different models, the Silverado HD is available in different editions: High Country Midnight Edition, with blacked-out accents; ZR2 Bison Edition, with AEV features; and the Z71 Chrome Sport Edition, with chrome accents. 

The truck features the Multi-Flex tailgate, 12 cargo tie-downs, an available 120V outlet, and more.

Ford Maverick

The Ford Maverick is the smallest of the Ford pickups, able to tow a maximum of 4,000 lbs., carry a payload of 1,500 lbs., and get a whopping estimated 42 mpg. The vehicle is available in multiple models depending on fleet needs, including the more basic Maverick XL and the off-road capable Maverick Tremor. The 2026 model receives new paint color options, a realigned power-sliding rear window as an optional feature for the Lariat and Tremor trims, and the option to add a power-sliding rear window in XLT and Lobo trims. The 2.0L EcoBoost AWD is also available as a “no-charge upgrade” from the hybrid FWD powertrain. Every 2026 Maverick features the Ford Connectivity Package.

Additional features include the available Flexbed storage system, the Multi-position Tailgate to tie down longer items, and in-bed cubby storage.

Ford Ranger

Ford’s midsize pickup, the Ford Ranger is capable of towing up to 7,500 lb. and carrying 1,788 lb. of payload. There are four different models available (including a Raptor). The pickup features a standard 2.3L EcoBoost engine, with a 2.7L EcoBoost engine available. The 2.3L offers 270 hp and 310 lb.-ft. of torque, while the 2.7L offers 315 hp and 400 lb.-ft. of torque.

Ford updated its 2025 model year Ranger in June of this year, so we can expect these updates to be the latest until later in 2026. While the updates and changes from 2024 models are minor, Ford brought new exterior colors to the Ranger as well as the addition of a wireless keyless entry keypad that is now available as a dealer-installed option. 

The Ranger is now also offered with a new Black Appearance Package and a Chrome Accent Package. An integrated trailer brake is now also optional on the XL trim.

Ford F-150

The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular vehicles in America, but also doubles as a popular commercial vehicle, available in multiple models from the XL to the King Ranch to the Raptor. also The XL trim now has the Tailgate Step with Tailgate Work Surface as an available option. 

The truck is available with six different engines: a 2.7L EcoBoost V6 (325 hp and 400 lb.-ft.), a 5.0L Ti-VCT V8, (400 hp and 410 lb.-ft.), a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 (400 hp and 500 lb.-ft.), a 3.5L PowerBoost Full-Hybrid V6 (430 hp and 570 lb.-ft.), a 3.5L High Output EcoBoost V6 (450 hp and 510 lb.-ft.), and a 5.2L Supercharged V8 (720 hp and 640 lb.-ft.). Depending on the configuration, the F-150 can tow up to 13,500 lb. and has a maximum payload of 2,440 lb.

Ford updated the 2025 F-150 back in June, and we can expect these updates to be the latest until later in 2026. Updates included new exterior colors along with multiple tech features, like adding automatic emergency braking to the Pre-Collision Assist, blind spot assist with the lane-keeping system, a one-year trial of Blue Cruise available with select trims, intersection assist, road edge detection, and more.

Ford Super Duty

The 2026 Ford Super Duty lineup—powered by a 6.7L Power Stroke diesel or 7.3L gas engine—adds the new Lariat Premium Package for Crew Cab 4x4 models with Ford Co-Pilot360 2.0, platform running boards, power sliding rear glass with defrost and privacy glass, and trailer-focused tech like Pro Trailer Hitch Assist, Pro Trailer Backup Assist, and trailer reverse guidance. For F-350 Duallys, a new STX appearance package adds body-color bumpers, a painted grille, STX badging, and upgraded interior touches.

Additional options include a shorter bed on SuperCab models, tire pressure monitoring, the Tremor Off-Road package, and the Ford Connectivity package.

The Super Duty can tow up to 30,000 lb. and carry a maximum payload of 8,000 lb., with gooseneck configurations rated up to 40,000 lb. For fleet managers, Ford Pro customers receive a lifetime complimentary subscription to Ford Pro Telematics Essentials, offering insights on vehicle health, dealer scheduling, and more.

Ford Transit

The Ford Transit remains a versatile vehicle for fleets, available as a cargo van in multiple configurations, three roof heights, and with factory-installed upfits for specific trades. Engine options include a standard 3.5L V6 (275 hp and 260 lb.-ft.) and a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 (310 hp and 400 lb.-ft.), with GVWRs ranging from 8,670 to 11,000 lb. and maximum payloads from 3,060 to 5,110 lb. An all-wheel-drive system is available to help “maximize and enhance handling," Ford says.

Tech upgrades for 2026 include a now standard 8" digital instrument cluster, a 12" infotainment touchscreen, and wireless connectivity. Ford Co-Pilot360 adds safety and driver-assist features including lane-keeping, intersection assist, pre- and post-collision assist, and front and rear parking sensors.

The 2026 Transit also includes built-in access to Ford Pro’s suite of fleet management software and telematics.

GMC Canyon

The 2026 GMC Canyon midsize pickup comes standard with the 2.7L TurboMax engine (310 hp and 430 lb.-ft.) and can tow up to 7,700 lb. Factory off-road features include a 2" lift and wide-track wheels on most trims, with the AT4X offering a 3" lift. All models come with off-road suspension, and each trim adds unique hardware for rugged performance.

The base Elevation trim includes an 11.3" infotainment screen, an 11" digital cluster, 18" wheels, the ProGrade Trailering system, and rear and hitch camera views. Higher-tier trims expand to up to 10 camera angles, including an underbody view, while standard safety packages like Canyon Pro Safety and Canyon Safety Plus help protect drivers on and off the road.

Canyon buyers can choose from multiple trims and special packages, including the AT4X AEV Edition, Nightfall Edition, and Nightfall Essentials, each offering different aesthetic features, wheel/tire combinations, and more.

GMC Sierra 1500

The 2026 GMC Sierra 1500 receives minor exterior updates, including new 22" wheels and fresh paint options. Buyers can choose from four engines: 2.7L TurboMax, 5.3L gas, 6.2L V8, and 3.0L Duramax Turbo Diesel. Maximum payload reaches 2,200 lb., with towing up to 13,300 lb. on the diesel-equipped model.

The truck offers up to 13 camera views, a digital cluster, a 13.4" infotainment system, and the ProGrade Trailering System, which allows operators to save up to five custom trailer profiles. Depending on trim, the truck includes a range of safety features, from automatic emergency braking to trailer blind zone alerts.

The Pro trim targets commercial buyers, featuring 12 cargo tie-downs, a 12V front power outlet, and the 2.7L TurboMax engine with 310 hp and 430 lb.-ft. of torque (max towing 9,400 lb.). It’s also available with the 5.3L gas engine and a 10-way power driver seat. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, and a following distance indicator.

GMC Sierra HD

GMC’s heavy-duty lineup includes the GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500, both available with gas and diesel engines, a 6.6L V8, and a 6.6L Duramax Turbo Diesel. The former is standard on Pro, SLE, and SLT trims and offers 401 hp and 464 lb.-ft. of torque, while the latter is standard with the Denali and available on all other trims. It offers 470 hp and 975 lb.-ft. of torque.

Like the Sierra 1500, the 2500 and 3500 offer multiple camera views (up to 14) and the ProGrade Trailering System. The bed is optimized for gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailer clearance, and trailering mirrors are also available with auxiliary spot lamps and power extension, retraction, and folding. On the GMC Sierra Pro trim, standard safety features include forward collision alert, following distance indicator, front pedestrian braking, lane departure warning, and more. GMC advertises that the vehicle has best-in-class HD cargo bed volume and that the bed height makes for easy “lift-in” loading.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter is offered in multiple configurations designed for cargo delivery, work crews, passenger transport, and chassis cab upfits and can be spec’d as Class 2 or Class 3 vehicles. All models feature the 9G-Tronic automatic transmission, with all-wheel drive available on some versions.

More than 75% of commercial Sprinters are converted into industry-specific vans by upfitters, serving applications such as courier, express, and parcel services; buses for passenger transport; refrigerated vehicles; ambulances; construction site vehicles; and camper vans.

The light-duty cargo vans from Daimler Truck emphasize safety, comfort, and digital connectivity while maintaining flexibility for fleets. The optional MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system includes a 10.25" touch display and instrument cluster with color display, both of which can be operated through steering wheel controls. Additional features include sideguard assist, blind spot assist, tire-pressure monitoring, rain sensors, and optional packages focused on winter performance, comfort, and advanced driver assistance features.

Nissan Frontier

The 2026 Nissan Frontier midsize pickup is built for versatility across fleet and work applications. Offered in multiple cab, bed, and drivetrain configurations, it balances payload capacity, towing capability, and driver comfort for light-duty operations.

The truck's 3.8L V6 engine produces 310 hp and 281 lb.-ft. of torque when paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with four-wheel drive available for off-road use and challenging conditions. Payload capacity reaches up to 1,725 lb.

The Frontier offers driver-assist features such as hill start assist and available electronic locking rear differential, along with off-road-focused trims for rugged applications, with interior highlights that include a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone integration, intuitive controls, and durable materials to support daily fleet use.

Ram 1500

The 2026 Ram 1500 reintroduces the 5.7L HEMI V8, bringing the truck’s engine lineup to four options: two 3.0L Hurricane engines, the 3.6L Pentastar V6, and the HEMI. The 3.0L Hurricane delivers 420 hp and 469 lb.-ft. of torque with towing up to 11,610 lb. and a payload of 1,930 lb., while the high-output version offers 540 hp, 521 lb.-ft., max towing of 10,000 lb., and a 1,490-lb. payload. The 3.6L Pentastar provides 305 hp, 269 lb.-ft., 8,130-lb. towing, and 2,360-lb. payload. The 5.7L HEMI produces 395 hp, 410 lb.-ft., and 11,610-lb. towing capacity.

The cab delivers more than 50" of combined digital display area when equipped with the available passenger touchscreen. There are more than 100 standard safety and security features across the lineup, including evasive steering assist, intersection collision assist, and drowsy driver detection.

The truck also includes five drive modes, integrated trailer information, trailer reverse guidance, a digital rearview mirror with multiple views, and hands-free driving on select roads. Ram says this is its most technologically advanced and luxurious 1500 yet.

Ram 2500 and 3500

The 2026 Ram 2500 and the 2026 Ram 3500 are powered by two available engines: the high-output 6.7L Cummins turbo diesel and the 6.4L HEMI V8. In the 2500, the Cummins 6.7L offers 430 hp, 1,075 lb.-ft. of torque, a maximum payload capacity of 3,600 lb., and a maximum towing capacity of 20,000 lb. The standard 6.4L HEMI offers 405 hp, 429 lb.-ft. of torque, a maximum payload of 3,930 lb., and a maximum towing capacity of 17,750 lb. In the 3500, the Cummins 6.7L offers the same horsepower and torque but with a maximum payload of 6,050 lb. and a maximum towing capacity of 36,610 lb. With the HEMI, the 3500 offers the same horsepower and torque but with a maximum payload of 7,590 lb. and a maximum towing capacity of 18,150 lb.

Work truck features include Onboard Power capability with a 400W inverter or 2.4kW inverter, truck bed lighting, the RamBox cargo management system, and available trailer tow mirrors.

Like the Ram 1500, Ram boasts that the 2026 2500 and 3500 are also its most advanced yet. The 12" digital cluster features turn-by-turn navigation, trailer tire monitoring, vehicle dynamics and diagnostics, and more, while a 14.5" infotainment system with the brand’s Uconnect 5 enables Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Users also have the ability to add 360-degree views of their truck and the trailer they’re towing with available equipment. As with the 1500, the 2500 and 3500 come with more than 100 safety and security features as standard equipment.

Ram ProMaster

The 2026 Ram ProMaster is powered by the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine paired with a TorqueFlite FWD transmission, a combination that offers 276 hp, 250 lb.-ft. of torque, a max payload of 4,820 lb., and a max towing capacity of 6,910 lb. The ProMaster cargo van offers 524 cu. ft. of maximum cargo space with the ProMaster 3500 159" wheelbase and high roof. The van is offered in three different trim levels (Tradesman, SLT, and SLT+) as well as three different cargo heights and four length options.

The ProMaster's technology features include an available 7" digital information cluster with drowsy driving detection, available speed assist, forward collision alert, and available traffic sign recognition. Other safety features include a front and rear park assist, crosswind assist that helps keep the vehicle stable in windy conditions, and blind spot alert.

also The 2026 ProMaster is available with Level 2 autonomous driving and active driving assist. This system helps maintain a set speed and safe distance from vehicles ahead, and it can also keep the vehicle centered in the lane on approved roadways. 

Toyota Tacoma

A popular midsize pickup with its own cult following, the Toyota Tacoma is powered by either the 2.4L 4-cylinder turbo or the 2.4L 4-cylinder turbo hybrid. The former offers 278 hp and 317 lb.-ft. of torque, while the latter offers 326 hp and 465 lb.-ft. of torque. The pickup’s maximum towing capacity is 6,500 lb., and its maximum payload is 1,705 lb. Available in 11 different models from the basic SR to the TRD Pro, the truck's technology features include a Trailer Backup Guide; trailer blind spot monitoring; a 12.3" digital instrument cluster; a 14" infotainment screen; and front, rear, and side camera views to help tackle the trails.

The Tacoma is also designed with trails in mind, featuring a high-clearance front bumper on TRD Pro and Trailhunter trims. The Trailhunter is also outfitted with 33" tires, fog lights, a steel rear bumper, onboard air compressor, and more.

Toyota Tundra

The 2026 Toyota Tundra is offered with two powertrain options: a 3.4L Turbo i-Force Max hybrid producing 437 hp and 583 lb.-ft. of torque, and a 3.4L Turbo i-Force V6 delivering 389 hp and 479 lb.-ft. of torque. Maximum towing is rated at 12,000 lb., with payload capacity up to 1,940 lb. The Tundra is available in 10 models and multiple trims ranging from the basic SR to the Capstone, with bed lengths of 5.5 ft., 6.5 ft., and 8.1 ft.

Technology features include a 12.3" digital instrument cluster, a 14" infotainment screen, a 360-degree camera view, and a trailer backup guide with Straight Path Assist to help keep trailers aligned while reversing.

For off-road applications, the available TRD package adds capability with off-road suspension using Bilstein or Fox shocks, an upper control arm to strengthen the front suspension, a trim-specific grille, and an aluminum skid plate.
