Ford, Mack, and GMC among new NHTSA recalls

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from Ford, Mack, and General Motors.

Ford Super-Duty models’ right rear axle shaft may fail

Ford is recalling certain 2026 Super Duty F-250 and F-350 vehicles. The right rear axle shaft may have been improperly heat-treated during manufacturing and may break. A broken rear axle shaft can result in a loss of drive power or vehicle rollaway when the vehicle is placed in park. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 6,819 vehicles. Dealers will inspect the right rear axle shaft date code and replace the axle shaft as necessary. Ford models’ vehicle rollaway risk

Ford is recalling certain 2022-2026 F-150 Lightning BEV, 2024-2026 Mustang Mach-E, and 2025-2026 Maverick vehicles. The integrated park module may fail to lock into the park position when the driver shifts into park. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 114, "Theft Protection and Rollaway Prevention." A loss of park function can allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 272,645 vehicles. The park module software will be updated over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed February 2. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in February 2026. Ford Maverick models’ instrument panel cover may detach

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2025-2026 Maverick vehicles. The instrument panel cover may separate when the air bag deploys. An instrument panel cover separation can cause pieces of the cover to strike occupants, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

This recall potentially affects 6,897 vehicles. Dealers will replace the instrument panel cover. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk are expected to be mailed January 19. Additional letters will be sent once the final remedy is available, anticipated in February. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25SE7.

Ford Transit models’ rearview camera display may not operate

Ford is recalling certain 2022 Transit vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 22V183. The rearview camera supplied in the Rear Video Camera and Prep Kit will not function when installed by the final stage manufacturer (upfitter), resulting in a blank rearview image. A camera that does not display a rearview image while reversing can reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Ford E-Transit models’ loss of drive power from disengaged axle shaft

Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022-2025 E-Transit vehicles. The left rear axle half shaft may partially disengage from the power drive unit, which can result in a loss of drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. In addition, a half shaft that is not fully engaged to the primary drive unit can result in a vehicle rollaway if the parking brake is not applied, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

This recall potentially affects 32,160 vehicles. The remedy is under development. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk were expected to be mailed December 22. GMC Canyon models’ passenger airbag may deploy improperly

General Motors (GM) is recalling certain 2024–2026 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV vehicles. Incorrect sensing and diagnostic module (SDM) software may cause a second-stage passenger air bag deployment when only a first stage is intended. As such, these vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 208, “Occupant Crash Protection." An airbag that deploys improperly increases the risk of injury in a crash.

This recall potentially affects 1,120 vehicles. The SDM software will be updated, either over-the-air (OTA) or by a dealer. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 26. Owners may contact GMC customer service at 800-462-8782. GM's number for this recall is N252533510.

Mack Granite models’ rear brakes may overheat

Mack Trucks is recalling certain 2009-2015 Granite (GU) trucks. Vehicles remedied under Recall 15V804 (SC0398) may have had incorrect parts installed during subsequent repairs. The incorrect parts may cause a brake imbalance between the steer and drive axle brakes and the rear brakes to overheat. Overheated brakes may cause a tire blowout or fire, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 628 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and replace the brake chambers as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 2. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0491. Owners who received a remedy under Recall 15V804 (SC0398) must have the new remedy completed.

Great Dane Champion models’ lift gate may fail

Great Dane Trailers is recalling certain 2024-2025 Champion trailers. The cylinder pin in the slide liftgate may be insufficiently lubricated, which can cause the pin to seize, resulting in lift gate failure. A lift gate that fails during operation increases the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects 3 vehicles. Great Dane will work with Hiab to replace the lift gate cylinder pins. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed February 2. Owners may contact Great Dane's customer service at 877-369-3493.

Commercial vans’ wheelchair restraint retractor may not lock

Rollx Vans is recalling certain GMC Yukon, Sierra, Chevrolet Express 2500, Ford Transit, E-250, Toyota Sienna, Sienna Hybrid, Honda Odyssey, Chrysler Town and Country, Voyager, Pacifica, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Ram Promaster vehicles equipped with QRT-Deluxe and QRT-Max wheelchair restraints. Please refer to Rollx's recall report for specific model year information. The retractors may not lock, preventing the wheelchair from being properly secured. An unsecured wheelchair can move during transit, increasing the risk of injury.

This recall potentially affects 86 vehicles. Rollx will work with Q'Straint to inspect and replace the retractors as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 19. Owners may contact Rollx's customer service at 800-956-6668.
