With the integration, Volvo Open Charge will provide users access to Greenlane chargers, with the goal of adding future benefits such as booking charger reservations.
Greenlane Infrastructure is partnering with Volvo Trucks North America to integrate Greenlane’s charging network into the Volvo Open Charge service. Through the integration, Greenlane will provide Volvo customers access to its charging locations, and Volvo customers will be able to find Greenlane chargers through Volvo Connect or the Truck Charging app.
"Our partnership with Volvo is a first-of-its-kind collaboration to deliver public charging solutions tailored to the needs of medium- and heavy-duty fleets," said Patrick Macdonald-King, CEO of Greenlane. "By streamlining the transition to electric fleets, we are providing a future-ready solution that keeps goods and services moving and drives meaningful progress toward zero-emissions freight transportation."
The Volvo Open Charge service grants fleets access to a network of public charging locations for electric trucks, including maps to direct drivers to charging locations and charger availability displays.
Greenlane, meanwhile, is opening its first public charging location in Colton, CA in April 2025. The site will feature over 40 publicly accessible chargers for heavy-, medium-, and light-duty zero-emissions vehicles.
The companies stated they will continue to work together to integrate their offerings, especially in making new membership features available in Volvo Open Charge, such as booking reservations.
To help rein in the costs of fleet electrification, fleets should consider how they’ll manage their energy costs after their EV infrastructure is in place.
Here’s how fleets are using electric pickup trucks in their operations today, and why they’re not going back to gas- or diesel-powered engines anytime soon.
As part of their partnership, ChargePoint and Eaton will work to provide EV chargers, electrical infrastructure, and engineering services for transportation companies.
