Dragonfly Energy partners with Sphere Energy to improve battery intelligence

The partnership combines years of field performance data with battery-specific AI technology.

Key Highlights

  • Dragonfly Energy will integrate Sphere Energy’s AI models into its next-generation battery management system.
  • The technology is designed to improve state-of-charge and state-of-health accuracy.
  • Fleet operators could gain greater visibility into battery condition and lifecycle performance.

Dragonfly Energy is partnering with Sphere Energy to develop and integrate AI capabilities into future battery technologies and integrated power systems.

The partnership will combine Dragonfly Energy’s field data with Sphere Energy’s battery AI technology, which is based on its Vetta platform. The effort will expand Dragonfly IntelLigence beyond battery connectivity and system visibility by adding an AI-driven intelligence layer to future products and systems.

Sphere Energy’s proprietary battery AI models will be integrated into Dragonfly Energy’s next-generation battery management system architecture. Dragonfly will be the first battery pack manufacturer to place Sphere Energy’s AI-powered state-of-health technology at the core of its battery management system architecture.

The integration is designed to improve the accuracy of state-of-charge and state-of-health data while providing a more flexible development platform. The companies expect the architecture to help Dragonfly Energy develop products and solutions in response to customer needs.

For fleet operators, maintenance teams, OEMs, and other commercial customers, the technology is intended to provide greater visibility into battery condition and lifecycle performance. That information can support asset management and operating decisions while creating a faster feedback loop between field performance and product development.

“Our established product lines, long-standing customer relationships, and years of field performance have created a powerful data advantage,” said Dr. Denis Phares, CEO of Dragonfly Energy. “By combining that data advantage with Sphere Energy’s battery-specific AI models, we expect to evolve Dragonfly IntelLigence into a platform capable of delivering more precise, actionable insights across the applications we serve.”

What this means for fleet maintenance

For fleet maintenance teams, more accurate battery state-of-health and state-of-charge data could improve visibility into battery condition and lifecycle performance. That can help maintenance managers make better-informed decisions about service needs, asset management, and battery replacement. The faster feedback between field performance and product development could also help identify battery performance issues earlier and inform future equipment and power-system improvements.
