ChargePoint's cut-resistant charging cables and ChargePoint Protect program are designed to help protect charging stations from thieves who cut charging cables for the copper inside. The cut-resistant cables include steel elements to increase their durability while retaining the cables' flexibility during use, and have been tested against wire cutters, bolt cutters, and battery-powered tools. ChargePoint Protect is a charger alarm system that integrates with the charger's speakers, screens, and lighting. The system can detect when someone is tampering with a charging cable, and will engage the alarm while texting or emailing users a notification. Both will be available in 2025.
