Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain 2018-19 model year Freightliner Cascadia tractors for a improperly tightened brake caliper mounting bolts.

In the affected vehicles (potentially 18,105), the brake caliper has the potential of detaching, thus reducing braking performance and "increasing the risk of a crash," a recall letter to the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) reads.

Beginning August 13, Daimler will notify owners and dealers to inspect brake caliper mounting bolts on Cascadias manufactured between Jan. 2, 2017 and May 19, 2018, and tighten them if necessary.
