Last October, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company introduced a fuel-efficient long haul drive tire in North America, the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D.

To complement that product, Goodyear is now launching the Goodyear Fuel Max LHS, a fuel-efficient long haul steer tire.

“Together, the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D and the Goodyear Fuel Max LHS make up the most fuel-efficient long haul combination in North America,” said Gary Medalis, director of marketing, Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems.

Specifically, the combination of the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D and the Goodyear Fuel Max LHS saves, on average:

  • $1,300 worth of fuel, per truck, per year, compared to the combination of the Michelin X Line Energy D and Michelin XZA3+ EVERTREAD
  • $560 worth of fuel, per truck, per year, compared to the combination of the Bridgestone M710 Ecopia and Bridgestone R283 Ecopia
  • $560 worth of fuel, per truck, per year, compared to the combination of the Continental EcoPlus HD3 and the Continental HSL2 Eco Plus

“Long haul trucking fleets’ operating expenses are rising all the time,” said Brian Buckham, general manager, product marketing, Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems. “Fuel doesn’t have to be one of them. That’s why we’ve developed the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D and the Goodyear Fuel Max LHS to offer superior fuel efficiency.”

In addition to excellent fuel efficiency, the new Goodyear Fuel Max LHS offers:

  • Specialized, multi-layered tread compounding to promote even wear and the long miles to removal necessary for demanding long haul applications
  • Penetration resistance to help prevent stone drilling, which promotes casing retreadability
  • A steel belt and casing package for enhanced toughness and endurance, and other features

Like the Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D, the Goodyear Fuel Max LHS is SmartWay-verified.

“We know that fuel is a long haul fleet’s number-one expense,” said Buckham.

“If you’re a fleet, the quickest way to reduce your operating cost is to reduce your fuel consumption. That’s exactly what our Goodyear Fuel Max LHD G505D/Fuel Max LHS combination is designed to do, while at the same time delivering other benefits that are important to long haul fleets.”
