VSP News: Kolman's Korner, Episode 131 - Truck Wheels

May 5, 2017
In this installment, Fleet Maintenance editor David A. Kolman talks with Rick Dauch, president and CEO, Accuride, about the worldwide truck wheel market.

A legacy company of the Firestone Corporation, Accuride – a leading supplier of components to the North American and European commercial vehicle industries – was sold in 1987. Since then, it has been going through a number of changes, says company president and CEO Rick Dauch.

The company, which is growing its wheels and wheel-end businesses, sees a shift in the marketplace.

Dauch noted a disturbing trend in the aftermarket with regard to truck wheels.

Many of the wheels are coming from China.

There’s a great excess of wheel capacity, says Dauch.
