Run on Less 2025 to focus on the ‘Messy Middle’

Aug. 20, 2024
The fifth Run on Less event from NACFE will be focusing on the 'messy middle' of long-haul heavy-duty truck powertrains.

The North American Council for Freight Efficiency’s (NACFE) next Run on Less event will take place in fall 2025 as Run on Less – Messy Middle. The fifth Run on Less will focus on the ‘messy middle’ of the heavy-duty truck powertrain transition, with a particular emphasis on the long-haul segment, including return-to-base and over-the-road duty cycles.

“There is significant work being done in this segment of the market and this Run will give us the opportunity to showcase the realities of that market,” said NACFE Executive Director Mike Roeth.

The organization will be working with fleets with Class 8 day cabs and sleeper trucks who use various alternative fuel trains and energy efficiency technologies to examine their challenges and successes during the event. Additionally, Run on Less will provide an overview of various decarbonization efforts, such as alternative fueling options, and how various duty cycles influence powertrain selection for fleets.

At the same time, this year’s Run will also include the Bootcamp educational series and the usual metrics and dashboards tracking each participant’s work, plus additional information from NACFE’s visits to each fleet location and discussions with both fleet managers and drivers.

While there is not yet an expected publication date for NACFE’s fifth Run on Less report or an announcement on when site visit and findings videos will be released, the organization will share these details as the program develops.
