Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) plans to build a new U.S. manufacturing facility to expand production capacity and support future growth across its North American operations. Upon completion, the facility will be the largest truck manufacturing plant in the U.S.

The greenfield plant is expected to increase manufacturing capacity for both vocational and on-highway trucks while adding production flexibility through advanced manufacturing technologies and adaptable assembly systems.

“This new manufacturing facility supports our long-term growth plans for North America,” said Karin Rådström, president and CEO of Daimler. “It strengthens our ability to serve customers by responding faster and more flexibly to their evolving needs while unlocking our full potential through growth, scale and efficiency in line with our global strategy.”

The OEM has not selected a site for the facility and said it is evaluating multiple locations based on supply chain access, workforce availability, transportation infrastructure, the local business environment, and long-term manufacturing strategy.

Construction is expected to begin in late 2026 following final site selection, with production targeted to start in 2029. The company said the facility is expected to create thousands of jobs over time, with additional details on employment and the plant's location to be announced later.

According to the company, the new facility is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen its manufacturing network and improve operational flexibility while supporting future customer demand.

DTNA currently operates manufacturing facilities in Cleveland, Gastonia, Mount Holly, and High Point, North Carolina, as well as Gaffney, South Carolina. Its headquarters and engineering center remain in Portland, Oregon, where the company conducts vehicle development, testing, and product validation.
