Recall Roundup: Commercial Vehicle recalls address fire hazards, seat security, and camera failures

New NHTSA recalls target commercial vehicles with potential fire risks, fuel leaks, visibility problems, and electronic stability control failures.

Key Highlights

  • NHTSA recalls affect Freightliner trucks and other vehicles due to fuel leaks, fire hazards, and crash risks.
  • Kalmar terminal tractor owners are advised to park affected vehicles outdoors and away from structures until repaired.
  • Fleet managers should check recall notices for affected models and track repair instructions and remedy timelines.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently issued recall notices for commercial vehicles, including brands from DTNA, Ford, and more.

Owners of the affected vehicles should be contacted via U.S. mail over the next two months, but fleet and independent owners of these vehicles can contact the NHTSA Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit nhtsa.gov for more details. More information on each recall can be found below.

Daimler Truck models’ fuel filter hoses may disconnect and leak fuel

Daimler Truck North America (DTNA) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Freightliner Business Class M2, 2022-2027 FCCC XCM, FCCC XCR, 2023 Freightliner 108SD, 2024-2027 FCCC XCS, and FCCC XBS vehicles equipped with certain Cummins L9 diesel engines. The remote fuel filter hoses may separate from the fitting, causing a fuel leak and an engine stall. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. An engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 2,592 vehicles. Cummins will replace the fuel hoses. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 20. Owners may contact DTNA customer service at 800-547-0712 or Cummins customer service at 800-286-6467. DTNA's number for this recall is F1042.

Ford F-150 models’ front-row seats improperly secured

Ford is recalling certain 2025-2027 F-150 vehicles. The front seats may have been improperly secured to the vehicle. An improperly secured seat may not adequately restrain the seat occupant, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

This recall potentially affects 2,276 vehicles. Dealers will inspect and tighten or replace the front seat bolts as necessary. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 26. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S74.

Ford Transit models’ blank or distorted rearview camera image

Ford is recalling certain 2015 Transit Connect vehicles that were previously remedied under NHTSA recall number 25V572. The rearview camera may display a distorted, inverted, intermittent, or blank image when the vehicle is in reverse. A rearview camera that displays an inverted, distorted, intermittent, or blank image can reduce the driver’s view behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 506 vehicles. Dealers will replace the rearview camera as necessary. Interim letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, are expected to be mailed in October 2026. Additional letters will be sent once the remedy is available, anticipated in December 2027. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 26S73.

Kalmar models’ printed circuit board may short-circuit and cause fire

Kalmar Solutions is recalling certain 2014-2026 Ottawa T2 4X2 and 2016-2026 T2 6X4 DOT/EPA terminal tractors. The printed circuit board (PCB) insulation may become damaged, resulting in a short circuit. A short circuit increases the risk of a fire even when the vehicle is parked and the ignition is in the 'Off' position.

This recall potentially affects 16,127 vehicles. Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until their vehicle is repaired. Kalmar will rewire the cabin power and add a 5A fuse to the PCB circuit. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by December 4. Owners may contact Kalmar customer service at 888-229-6300, select option 4, then option 2.

Ram 2500 models’ loss of electronic stability control (ESC)

Chrysler is recalling certain 2026 Ram 2500 Pickup trucks. The trucks may be equipped with steering column control modules that can cause a loss of electronic stability control. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems." A loss of electronic stability control increases the risk of a crash.

This recall potentially affects 8,329 vehicles. Dealers will replace the steering column control module. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 24. Owners may contact FCA customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 90D. This recall expands previous NHTSA recall number 26V244.
