March 6, 2023
More than recalling certain 2021-2023 Ram 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, and 4500, 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles equipped with a Cummins 6.7L turbo diesel engine.

Stellantis is recalling certain 2021-2023 Ram 2500, 3500, 3500 Cab Chassis, and 4500, 5500 Cab Chassis vehicles equipped with a Cummins 6.7L turbo diesel engine. In total, 306,165 trucks may be affected.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an electrical short may occur in the heater grid relay with the ignition on or off.  According to NHTSA, a bolt is susceptible to weakening and may fall down into the intake of the engine, and once in the engine block, will cause catastrophic damage. In 2021, 131,177 of the same model and year Ram trucks were recalled for the same issue ( 21V-798). This is an expansion of and supersedes that previous recall.

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the recall repair is complete.

To remedy the situation, dealers will replace the relay, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by March 31, 2023.

Owners may contact Chrysler/FCA US customer service by calling 1-800-853-1403. The recall number for FCA US is 13A.

This recall is an expansion of and supersedes recall number 21V-798.

To check to see if your vehicle has an open recall, visit NHTSA's website and enter the vehicle's 17-digit vehicle identification number.
