“Driver assistance systems play a key role in making commercial trucks easier and less fatiguing to operate,” said Jim Walenczak, Kenworth assistant general manager for sales and marketing. “These new features will complement safe driving behavior and provide drivers more convenience operating in cruise control.”

The ACC Stop and Auto Go feature lets a vehicle automatically keep to a safe following distance while in cruise control, potentially bringing the vehicle to a full stop and holding it in place if necessary, the company stated. Then, the vehicle will accelerate to the previously set cruise control speed and continue to maintain a safe follow distance on its own.

The Highway Departure Braking to Zero feature offers similar braking capabilities if the truck leaves the road. This will cause the vehicle to provide an audible chime and begin braking, potentially stopping the vehicle completely until the driver reengages.

Additional features now included on Kenworth T680s through Bendix Fusion are improved Adaptive Cruise Control, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), and more. These new features are offered alongside Collision Mitigation alerts, Lane Departure Warning, and Side Object Detection visual and auditory notifications.
