TA's emergency roadside trucks now equipped with HAAS alert system

April 17, 2024
The initiative will alert oncoming drivers of roadside technicians via vehicle infotainment centers and navigation apps, the companies stated.

TravelCenters of America and the NATSO Foundation have launched a new digital notification initiative to keep roadside technicians safe while working along interstate highways via the HAAS Alert Safety Cloud digital alerting platform. Through the partnership, now all TA Truck Service Emergency Roadside Assistance (ERA) vehicles are equipped witht the HAAS system. The service sends digital alerts to oncoming drivers while approaching ERA vehicles, specifically when the ERAs activate their flashing lights alongside a roadway. These alerts instruct drivers to slow down and move over, and appear on navigation apps such as Waze and Apple Maps, as well as on infotainment screens of 2018 and newer Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles.

"HAAS Alert's real-time digital notifications provide a safer work environment for the thousands of team members who provide emergency roadside services to professional drivers in need of help," TA CEO Debi Boffa said. "Safety is our top priority, and we are extremely proud to drastically improve roadside working conditions and better protect both our team members and professional drivers."

This partnership builds on the NATSO Foundation’s earlier work in 2023 with HAAS alert, when they connected HAAS Alert with truck stop and travel center locations.
