Under normal circumstances, the dispatch process alone can take an hour or more, so this method can shave off a considerable amount of the overall downtime caused by whatever maintenance problem waylaid the vehicle.
According to Craig Schneider, Tow4Tech’s CEO and co-founder, the customer’s chosen wrecker is dispatched and assigned within five minutes of using the app. He had previously mentioned the startup was successfully working with an unnamed “top national fleet manager” to get trucks back on the road faster. This has now been revealed to be Ryder.
“The first phase of our relationship has shown encouraging results towards our goal of reducing downtime and improving the service experience for our customers when they have a roadside event,” said Jenn Dixon, VP of maintenance technology at Ryder. “Tow4Tech brings speed, transparency, and automation to a process that has historically lacked all three. Their innovative platform makes it easier for our teams to coordinate roadside assistance, and we’re excited to expand our pilot throughout Florida as they continue to build out their platform.”
Tow4Tech has a total of $3.3. million in funding, with plans to scale across North America and eventually Europe. For now, they will work with Ryder to evaluate more performance data from the collected roadside events.
"We are proud to expand our business with Ryder, an industry pioneer that continues to embrace tech-driven innovation," Schneider stated. "This relationship reflects our shared commitment to transforming an outdated and often frustrating process into one that is intelligent, efficient, and accountable. Together, we are actively developing a technology roadmap, focusing on enhancing solution efficiency and defining a more streamlined, robust architecture to support future growth."
