Pilot, Tesla partner on Semi Charger network for fleets
Pilot Travel Centers is partnering with Tesla to install the latter’s Semi Chargers at certain Pilot locations along I-5 and I-10, as well as along several major highway corridors where charging need is highest. The first site equipped with Semi Chargers will open in Summer 2026.
“Helping to shape the future of energy is a strategic pillar in meeting the needs of our guests and the North American transportation industry,” said Shannon Sturgil, SVP, alternative fuels at Pilot. “Heavy-duty charging is yet another extension of our exploration into alternative fuel offerings, and we’re happy to partner with a leader in the space that provides turnkey solutions and deploys them quickly.”
Construction on the heavy-duty EV truck charging will begin in the first half of 2026. These charging sites will be in at Pilot locations in California, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, and Texas, with each location hosting four to eight charging stalls.
Each charger will feature Tesla’s V4 cabinet charging technology, according to the companies, offering up to 1.2 megawatts of power at each stall.
While this new network of chargers will focus on being able to charge Tesla Semis, in the future, it may be compatible with heavy-duty EVs from other manufacturers.
