Our evolution to benefit you continues

Feb. 10, 2015
Changes are being made to help readers stay current and knowledgeable.

It seems that every time we turn around there’s more troubling news coming our way.  Even in sports, there’s an underlying current of the negative, despite when a team has won the game. For example, a player’s injury taking precedence over the team’s win.  Not that any injury is good news, mind you.

Here at Fleet Maintenance, I am very pleased to share some good news to start off this New Year.

For those of you who read Fleet Maintenance regularly, you’ve no doubt noticed that our list of editors has been growing. That is because we are dedicated to covering industry events and sharing the news and information that helps you keep vehicles operating with greatest efficiency and minimal downtime.

Our latest addition to the staff is Josh Smith. He came aboard the Vehicle Repair Group as an assistant editor late last year. He joins David A. Kolman, our editor, Mike Schmidt, managing editor, and Mattie Gorman, an assistant editor on our team.

Vehicle Repair Group

Along with Fleet Maintenance, the Vehicle Repair Group is comprised of Professional Tool & Equipment News (PTEN) – the source for the latest tool and equipment innovations that increase efficiency for automotive technicians; Professional Distributor – which serves the tool and equipment distribution channel, including mobile tool distributors, warehouse distributors and glass fronts selling tools and equipment; and VehicleServicePros.com, the official website of PTEN, Fleet Maintenance and Professional Distributor magazines.

I also want to note that VehicleServicePros.com continues to be refined and enhanced as well. The website includes even more news and information, videos, new products and resources, plus has expanded content from Fleet Maintenance.

All of this content is regularly updated to keep up with meeting the increasing needs and demands of you, our audience.

Circulation Growth

Some of you may be new readers. That is because we’ve been growing the circulation of Fleet Maintenance over the last few months. Starting with our October 2014 issue, Fleet Maintenance had increased its circulation to 65,000, up from 61,750.

By mid-2015, we will be at 68,000 subscribers.

I welcome those of you who are now reading Fleet Maintenance. I am confident you’ll find us to be a good partner and a valuable tool, serving as your sustaining resource for fleet maintenance management.

The Important Things

One of the ways in which we determine what to write about is to canvas you, our readers, on a regular basis, to find out what is most important to you. We also encourage your input and suggestions at any time.

The accompanying chart below is from this summer’s research. You’ll see stories on these and other key issues in future issues.

Say Hello

If you have attended any of the annual spring trade conventions – like HDAW, the TMC Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition or the Work Truck Show, I hope we’ve had an opportunity to shake your hand. If not, please stop by our booth at an upcoming event.

We’d love to meet you, and our editors would welcome the chance to get to know you, too.

A Bright Future

Lastly, you may have heard that Fleet Maintenance and the Vehicle Repair Group are under new ownership by Southcomm Publishing.

This is great news for all of us, for two main reasons. First, Southcomm is a publishing company and, therefore, understands our business needs. Second, we have no debt.

Think of how you and your business could operate without debt.

We are very excited about this development, and we look forward to continue building and bringing to the market the best information to provide the vital information you, our readers, need to more effectively perform your roles in purchasing and maintaining a safe, efficient and profitable fleet.

I am proud to state that Fleet Maintenance remains the only publication that is: All maintenance, all management, all vehicle classes, all the time.
