Wheel manufacturer Accuride Corp. reports that its Henderson, Ky. and Accuride de Mexico Monterrey facilities have received Daimler Trucks North America's (DTNA) Masters of Quality Supplier Award.

This is the eighth year that Henderson factory has been so honored, and the first year for the Monterrey facility.

The 24-year-old program recognizes the “best of the best” among Daimler’s suppliers by saluting vendors that meet or exceed the truck producer’s standards and demonstrate an ongoing commitment to improving the quality of its products. Facilities are graded on four criteria; quality, cost, technology and supply/on-time delivery.

“The Masters of Quality award is the highest recognition that DTNA gives to its suppliers, and as such we are honored to be recognized year after year,” says Scott Hazlett, Accuride’s senior vice president and general manager. “This honor could not have been accomplished without the dedication and commitment to excellence of our Henderson and Monterrey associates.”

The company’s 306,000-square-foot Henderson plant, which serves all of Daimler’s facilities, produces steel wheels for the Freightliner, Western Star, Thomas Built Buses and Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. vehicles.

Accuride de Mexico’s 226,000-square-foot facility in Monterrey produces steel wheels for the Freightliner and the Thomas buses. It primarily serves Daimler’s Saltillo and Santiago, Mexico facilities.

This year’s recognition “underscores Accuride’s continued commitment to building dependable, quality products” – as evidenced by Daimler’s recognition of the company in March of this year as its top global truck and bus chassis supplier, Hazlett says.

In addition, the company’s Gunite division is a past recipient of the Masters of Quality Award.
