MEDCO announced it has acquired the assets of Weiss Tool Supply, adding an additional location in the Northeast and expanding the company's coverage into the Southwest, creating a completely national footprint. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the acquisition gives MEDCO its first warehouse in Texas and the opportunity for a will call/service office in the New York City metropolitan area. The new locations will begin doing business as MEDCO immediately.

"The combination of industry consolidation, along with the devastation caused by Super Storm Sandy, took its toll on Weiss and made it impossible for them to continue operations," said Andrew Keim, president of MEDCO. He added, "While this was not necessarily the way we sought to expand our own operations, the opportunity to acquire a respected and existing business with a strong customer base while ensuring futures for the talented and long-standing Weiss employees seemed to be a sound business move that would benefit all parties."

With this acquisition, MEDCO grows to nine warehouses and three sales offices in the U.S. with the ability to provide next day/two day ground delivery to 95 percent of the country. MEDCO also operates three warehouses in Canada.
