NEXIQ Technologies has updated its USB-Link 3 Vehicle Interface drivers (3.1.0.8) to include support for RP1210 and J2534 CAN FD and DoIP protocols.
The company said this will hasten the diagnostic process.
“CAN FD and DoIP protocols increase diagnostic speed because data is communicated at a faster rate,” said Dave Shock, NEXIQ Technologies product manager. “Bottlenecks in the transfer of information are not the result of the USB cable or Wi-Fi, but rather the CAN communication. Integrating USB-Link 3 with CAN FD and DoIP protocols decreases the time required to transfer data, thereby eliminating CAN bottlenecks and increasing the overall speed of diagnostic results.”
The new capabilities also allow flexibility at the factory level, according to Shock.
“We knew this was an emerging technology, and we wanted to have it available for our OEM customers as they develop new vehicles with this architecture,” he explained. “Plus, by the time these new vehicles hit the road, we wanted to provide customers with the right diagnostic equipment for our repair facility. And this is exactly what we accomplished—without removing any legacy support or capability. For example, USB-Link 3 connects seamlessly to a PC, tablet or smart phone via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.”
