Midtronics, Inc. announced the release of a new software update to its HYB-1000 Hybrid Battery System Analyzer product, extending the list of supported hybrid vehicles to 12.

Introduced in 2010, the HYB-1000 is the industry’s first battery system analyzer developed exclusively for hybrid vehicles. Offering a safe, one-person test, the HYB-1000 communicates to the vehicle OBD system using a wireless convergence module, which allows it to assess the battery pack and cells while under the stress of accelerating and decelerating. Besides reporting battery pack state of health, the HYB-1000 can read and re-set diagnostic trouble codes, freeing up diagnostic equipment for more comprehensive service visits.

New vehicle models included in the update are the Cadillac Escalade, Ford Escape Gen II, Ford Fusion, and Honda Insight I and II. The new models join the list of seven vehicles supported with the initial launch: Chevrolet Malibu, Ford Escape Gen I, Honda Civic Gen II, Lexus LS600h, Toyota Camry, and Toyota Prius Gen I and II.

The software update is now available for purchase at $250 USD and includes an SD card and instruction sheet that will enable customers to quickly and easily perform the update on their own without the need to take the tool out of service. Customers may download an order form at http://goo.gl/xH3KT or contact Midtronics Customer Service toll-free to order the update at 800-776-1995 (U.S.) or 866-592-8053 (Canada).
