John Bean expands Tru-Point coverage for ADAS calibrations
John Bean has expanded the vehicle coverage of its Tru-Point ADAS calibration system, adding new calibration variations that support a wider range of OEM service procedures. The update is designed to help maintenance shops keep up with growing ADAS calibration demands as more new vehicles arrive in the bay.
The Tru-Point system verifies a vehicle’s alignment before any calibration begins, and can enable shops to combine alignment and ADAS calibration into a single workflow when paired with a John Bean wheel aligner, opening additional service opportunities and reducing comebacks tied to improperly calibrated sensors.
By checking alignment up front, technicians can identify vehicles that would otherwise fail a calibration due to misalignment, saving time and preventing unnecessary resets.
“With ADAS becoming standard in new vehicles, the connection between alignment and safety has grown stronger, and the need for ADAS equipment with expanded coverage and ongoing updates has become increasingly important,” said Jordan Krebs, product manager for alignment and ADAS, Americas at John Bean. "With these innovations, precision matters."
Tru-Point is engineered to fit into existing shop layouts, addressing one of the biggest barriers to adding ADAS calibration services: floor space and uneven flooring.
Key design features include:
- Tire contact patch measurement to establish accurate reference points
- Compensation for floor inconsistencies that commonly disrupt calibration accuracy
- 3D coordinate placement of targets based on the true plane the vehicle sits on
- Flexibility for vehicle movement between calibrations
- Ability to perform calibrations directly on an alignment rack, depending on rack setup and space
