Two new axles extend the company’s lineup of single-reduction, single drive axles to medium duty Class 6 and Class 7 vehicles.

Dana Holding Corporation has launched two new Spicer S140 Series axles that extend the company’s lineup of single-reduction, single drive axles to medium duty Class 6 and Class 7 vehicles with gross axle weight ratings (GAWR) up to 21,000 lbs and gross combined weights (GCW) up to 46,000 lbs.

Up to 50 lbs lighter than competitive offerings, the new Spicer S140 Series drive axles feature “best-in-class GenTech gearing, which delivers automotive-level noise quality combined with increased torque capacity and durability” for pickup, delivery, school bus, midi bus, motor home, municipal and utility applications, says Steve Slesinski, the company’s global director of product planning.

These axles are available now in a wide range of numerical ratios from 3.31:1 to 6.50:1 that deliver maximum performance across a variety of vocations and applications.

A high-capacity gearing and bearing system offers the durability and reliability required by today’s high-torque engines with increased horsepower, he adds.

Dana (www.dana.com) is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains.

"For many years, we have focused our considerable engineering resources on developing the most comprehensive lineup of reduced-weight drivetrain solutions for commercial vehicles," says Pat D’Eramo, president of Dana Commercial Vehicle Driveline Technologies. "These new Spicer S140 Series axles reflect our ongoing commitment to reducing weight and increasing fuel efficiency through drivetrain solutions designed to get the job done reliably mile after mile."
