TorcUP offers a solution for difficult bolting applications

Sept. 12, 2017
The RAPTOR Pneumatic Torque Wrench is available in five models from 78 ft-lbs to 5,990 ft-lbs.

TorcUP’s line of RAPTOR Non-Impacting Pneumatic Torque Wrenches offers a safer solution for difficult bolting applications  the company says.

Every year, despite safety regulations, wheel-off accidents continue to cause serious injuries and even fatalities on America’s roadways. The RAPTOR’s non-impacting operation and its capability to produce precise torque values are decreasing human error and making it easier for technicians to effectively and accurately complete bolting applications on lug nuts, main bolts, head bolts and more.

“The cause of a wheel-off is that either the fastener is too loose or too tight,"  says TorcUP’s President, John Kovacs. "With the RAPTOR, the operator can adjust the torque to an exact and precise required figure."

"Torque control is only possible with accuracy and repeatability,” TorcUP’s Regional Sales Manager Tom Vrana adds.

Threaded fasteners on all truck wheels have specific torque requirements, so accuracy is important.

“The RAPTOR is accurate to within 5 percent of its torque value compared to an impact wrench that is only accurate to within about 20 percent of its torque value,” Director of Sales Tim Benford said.

To avoid these health risks, the RAPTOR also utilizes a gear torque multiplication system designed to give no strain on the user.

“It has been proven that consistent use of an impact wrench can cause harm to mechanics in the form of white finger disease, carpal tunnel and nerve damage,” Benford adds.

The RAPTOR Pneumatic Torque Wrench is available in five models from 78 ft-lbs to 5,990 ft-lbs. Every unit is calibrated in TorcUP’s ISO17025 Laboratory, manufactured with AQ Certified Alloys and is made in the U.S.A.
