VehicleServicePros.com launches updated website

Oct. 26, 2016
VehicleServicePros.com, the official website of PTEN, Fleet Maintenance and Professional Distributor magazines, has been recently updated.

The VehicleServicePros.com website continues to evolve. VehicleServicePros.com, the official website of PTEN, Fleet Maintenance and Professional Distributor magazines, has recently introduced an updated website design.

As part of the SouthComm Vehicle Repair Group, the VehicleServicePros.com website and affiliated publications – Fleet Maintenance, PTEN and Professional Distributor magazines – are owned by SouthComm Business Media, a business-to-business and alternative weekly publication group.

The staff of VehicleServicePros.com wanted to create a website platform to increase engagement on the web, create a better user interface for its growing mobile audience, and provide an innovative way to target content to a user’s interests.

The updated website features a design that allows for easy display on any viewing screen – including desktop computers, tablets and mobile smartphones. Known as responsive design, the viewing screen adapts to the screen size of the user, to display content optimally, in an easy-to-navigate format.

“With the increasing adoption of smartphones and tablets, more consumers continue to access the internet on their mobile devices, so it was imperative to continue to assess and adapt the website’s design and functionality for all types of users,” says Larry Greenberger, Group Publisher for the SouthComm Vehicle Repair Group.

Navigating the website

While the navigation is similar to previous versions of the website, the content has an updated layout for a clean look that’s easy to navigate and organized into applicable content channels.

Content on the website is also filtered down into more detailed channels. Channel content is designed as a “destination” page, showing the latest content applicable for that channel.

Channels can be accessed three ways:

1. Via the navigation at the top of the website. For desktop views, primary channels are visible across the top. Tablet and mobile users can click on the homepage button in the top left of the screen to view the full menu of channels (three horizontal lines that form a small square).

2. By clicking on any of the section headers on the homepage, or section headers within channel landing pages.

3. After scrolling through an individual article or piece of content, users will view all of the latest content added to the channel where this individual article is housed.

In addition, users can still access the Product Guide, which organizes products under the applicable product guide categories.

Also accessible via the homepage button in the top-left of the screen, users have access to the updated Product Guide, a search function, and more resources including the print publications, videos, whitepapers, webinars and more.
