Hitachi Ltd. has acquired Joliet Electric Motors, a large motor sales and maintenance business with a track record of 90-years. Hitachi says that the acquisition will expand their sales of large industrial equipment in North America, strengthen the maintenance service business for existing products, and allow them to enter into the maintenance service business for products manufactured by other companies. Hitachi also aims to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions from energy sources by developing and providing electrified products through Joliet's sales channels.

Through this acquisition, Hitachi Industrial Products will acquire a local maintenance service base in advance of a significant increase in maintenance for delivered products, collaborating with the Illinois-based company to provide maintenance service operations for approximately 7,000 wind farm generators and large motors installed in Hitachi Group products in North America.
Hitachi Industrial Products aims to accelerate the transition from fossil fuel-powered engines to electrification products and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions by leveraging Joliet's sales channels.
