Estes Express Lines is deploying 10 more of Snider Fleet Solutions' WheelRight tire inspection systems at more of its 280 terminals across the U.S. WheelRight can help automate the tire-inspection process by inspecting tires through a 6-second roll-over.
“Safety and efficiency are at the core of everything we do,” said Mike Palmer, VP of Fleet Services at Estes Express Lines. “Integrating WheelRight technology across more of our terminals ensures that our fleet operates at peak performance, while also reducing our environmental impact.”

WheelRight can track a tire’s pressure, tread depth, and gather damage data and send it to fleet managers in real time. It is an agnostic system that uses cameras to capture a full view of each tire, with fleets able to add on hardware to handle sidewall inspections, tread imaging, tire temperature, and tire weight.
Estes first started using the system in 2020 through their U.S. truck tire supplier, Fort Mill, a Snider Fleet Solutions distributor. The fleet reported to Fleet Maintenance affiliate, Modern Tire Dealer, that after installing the system at some of their terminals, emergency roadside service events dropped by 30%.
The 500 facilities marks a significant benchmark for the SMART Initiative, with the next goal to establish 1,000 operational facilities by the end of 2030.
The commercial towing platform “brings speed, transparency, and automation to a process that has historically lacked all three,” Ryder VP Jenn Dixon said.
