All Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) fall meeting attendees and TMCSuperTech2014 competitors are allowed to attend the Professional Technician Development Committee (PTDC) Training Fair.
The training fair, held in conjunction with the annual TMCSuperTech – the trucking industry’s National Technician Skills Competition – and fall meeting, is a series of hands-on training sessions designed for technicians, shop supervisors and fleet managers to help them stay up-to-date on the latest vehicle service and maintenance technologies and techniques.
All of the events will all take place between Monday, Sept. 22 and Thursday, Sept. 25 at the Walt Disney Swan and Dolphin Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
TMC (tmc.trucking.org), North America’s premier technical society for truck equipment technology and maintenance professionals, works to improve transport equipment, maintenance and management. A group within TMC, the PTDC, promotes and enhances the professionalism of commercial vehicle technicians.
The PTDC training qualifies for National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) (www.natef.org) continuing education credits. The primary mission of this non-profit foundation is to improve the quality of automotive technician training programs nationwide through voluntary accreditation.
Fleet Maintenance (www.VehicleServicePros.com) is proud to be a Platinum Sponsor of the TMCSuperTech.
THE SESSIONS
There are three training sessions scheduled for this year’s PTDC Technician Training Fair. The training sessions will be held on Wednesday, Sept 24 at 7, 8:15 and 9:30 AM. Each session lasts one hour and runs concurrently during each time block to maximize the number of training opportunities.
Training Session 1 – Fastener 101 Basic Training: Identifying Grade Markings of Common Fasteners. This session will cover the basics of fastener identification so that technicians can learn to spot the important differences between various grades and finishes of fasteners used on commercial vehicles. A training manual will be given to each participant for additional information and reference.
Training Session 2 – Torque Program Development Management. During this training session, attendees will learn about the importance of torque, over-torque, under-torque and how to reduce these liabilities through proper torque program development and management.
Training Session 3 – Tire Safety and Understanding Wear Patterns That Cost Fleets Cash. This session will provide technicians guidance in identifying key tire issues and diagnosing what various tire wear patterns and conditions mean in terms of complaint, cause and correction.
