ATA, TMC kick off 7th National Technician Appreciation Week

The theme this year is "Celebrating technicians that keep us moving."

The American Trucking Associations and ATA’s Technology & Maintenance Council are celebrating professional truck technicians with National Technician Appreciation Week the week of June 14. For this seventh NTAW, which is sponsored by Cox Fleet, the theme is “Celebrating technicians that keep us moving,” reflecting how the transportation industry would come to a full stop without the men and women who diagnose, maintain and repair the estimated 15 million commercial trucks (2-axle, 6-tire or more) in the U.S. These vehicles moved about 73% of freight in the U.S. in 2024.

“Trucking operations run around the clock and cover hundreds of billions of miles to deliver to virtually every home, workplace, and business.  Our nation owes enormous gratitude to the hardworking men and women who keep our trucks well maintained and ensure the wheels of our essential industry continue to turn,”  said ATA President & CEO Chris Spear.  “During National Technician Appreciation Week, we will join Americans from coast to coast in celebrating technicians and thanking them for their knowledge, skill, and attention to detail.  Their professionalism and commitment to upholding exacting standards enhance the efficiency of our supply chain and help to keep everyone on the road safe.”

According got the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the industry employs 57,300 diesel technician. TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell called these professional technicians “indispensable to trucking operations,” and that this week “is an opportunity for both the industry and the public to show their appreciation and thank these professionals for the critical work they do every day.”
