- The scheduler chooses jobs from the ready backlog in priority order.
- The scheduler fills in the scheduling board with minimum details.
- The scheduler physically walks around every four hours, eyes the status of jobs and makes sure the right jobs are running.
- The scheduler then prepares a short report calculating the schedule attainment. Intervention is required if it falls below a threshold like 80 percent or 90 percent.
- If a job is stuck or not started, the scheduler adds a note on the report for the supervisor to look into.
- If a job stays stuck for two reports, it is escalated to management.
- Reasons for schedule miss conditions are collected at the time, tabulated and discussed monthly.
