Everyone at Fleet Maintenance works industriously to provide the most insightful and timely editorial. We do this not just in our print and online publications, but also through exclusive material and resources for VehicleServicePros.com, the official website of Fleet Maintenance.
Fleet Maintenance’s sole focus is to continually give our subscribers and readers the detailed, relevant information needed to:
- Keep their vehicles operating with greatest efficiency and minimal downtime.
- Improve their personal performance.
The vast majority of Fleet Maintenance’s subscribers – 94 percent – have direct or supervisory influence over maintenance work. They are also heavily involved with brand specification.
Consider, if you will, Golf Digest and Sports Illustrated magazines. While the latter may touch upon golf, Golf Digest is only about golf. In the vehicle maintenance industry, Fleet Maintenance is the Golf Digest.
Chief Anxieties
We at Fleet Maintenance keep our fingers on pulse of the industry through active involvement. We also consistently survey subscribers/readers to keep aware of their concerns, areas of interests and knowledge needs.
One of the questions we regularly ask them is: What industry issues cause you concern? The just completed 2016 Fleet Maintenance Reader Study found that their top worries to be:
- Keeping the fleet operating with minimal downtime – 86 percent.
- Keeping educated on vehicle and related technologies – 83 percent.
- Training on the increasing complexity of vehicles – 67 percent.
- Gaining access to vehicle repair information – 59 percent.
- Workplace safety – 54 percent.
- Recruiting qualified technicians – 43 percent.
- Training on increasing complexity of tools and equipment – 41 percent.
Interestingly, the top two concerns “flipped” from the 2015 readership study which found these to be:
- Keeping educated on vehicle and related technologies – 88 percent.
- Keeping the fleet operating with minimal downtime – 86 percent.
In both the 2016 and 2015 studies, training on the increasing complexity of vehicles was the third chief cause of concern for subscribers/readers, followed by gaining access to vehicle repair information at number four.
The research showed a greater interest in workplace safety in the 2015 study, which tied for the fourth greatest worry. Workplace safety placed at number five in this year’s study.
Surprisingly, recruiting qualified technicians was at the bottom of the list in both readership studies.
To Be Continued
Be certain, Fleet Maintenance will continue to provide its subscribers/readers with the vital information, wide-ranging curriculum and best practices they need to most effectively perform their roles in purchasing and maintaining a safe, efficient and profitable fleet, and to help them continue with their professional development.
Fleet Maintenance – which is all maintenance, all management, all vehicle classes, all the time – remains the only publication to do this.
We welcome your input, thoughts and ideas.
