VSP News: Kolman's Korner, Episode 94 - Trucking and Mobile Technology

Dec. 3, 2015
Charles Myers, vice president of strategy for Trucker Path, discusses mobile technology for the trucking industry.

As mobile operating systems and devices become “smarter,” they’re finding more uses within the trucking industry.

I asked Charles Myers, vice president of strategy for Trucker Path, about this. Trucker Path is a company that provides mobile navigational and load matching apps and platforms for the trucking industry.

Myers noted that there are now mobile apps for doing pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.

Smartphone-based navigation aids, like Trucker Path’s, allow truckers to not only plot their route, but see – and interact – with key locations of interest – things such as truckstops, weigh stations, rest areas and hotels.

Mobile technology in trucking continues to grow with the proliferation of industry-specific mobile apps that help improve efficiency, safety and compliance; reduce downtime and costs; improve a trucker’s quality of life on the road by giving them anytime-anywhere access to information, professional tools and streaming video and audio; plus mobile technology truckers to connect with family and friends.
