The Automotive Lift Institute has releaed its 2026 Lifting Points Guide, Vehicle Lifting Points for Frame Engaging Lifts. Produced annually by MOTOR Information Systems exclusively for ALI, the Lifting Points Guide includes OEM-recommended lifting points for most light trucks and consumer vehicles sold in North America from model year 2000 through 2026.

Because lift points are rarely marked on vehicles and can change by model year, the guide centralizes that information into a single, shop-ready reference instead of relying on memory or trial and error.

“When you’re using a two-post lift or another frame-engaging lift, your safety depends on properly picking up the vehicle,” said R.W. “Bob” O’Gorman, ALI president. “That means using the right lift with the appropriate adapters positioned as directed by the vehicle manufacturer.”

The guide includes more than 250 undercarriage images showing where adapters should be placed on two-post and other frame-engaging lifts, along with OEM notes for specific vehicles. For mixed fleets and service shops that see a wide range of vehicles, accurate lift data also prevents bent pinch welds, crushed battery housings, and compromised underbody components.

ALI updates the guide each year as vehicle platforms change, and the latest edition supersedes older printed versions. Between editions, critical changes are published through ALI’s newsroom. The 2026 version also includes safe-lifting best practices to reinforce proper setup, adapter selection, and load balance before raising a vehicle.

The Lifting Points Guide is available in print, digital, or as a combo package. Digital access allows use on up to three devices and includes search and magnification features, making it practical for bayside reference on tablets or shop computers. No third-party software is required, and updates are immediately accessible.

From a compliance standpoint, professional shops are required under ANSI/ALI ALOIM—the industry standard governing lift operation, inspection, and maintenance—to make lifting-point information available to technicians. Providing access to ALI’s guide helps meet that requirement while standardizing how vehicles are positioned on lifts.
