In this edition of The Fleet Lead, our Commercial Vehicle Group's management podcast, FleetOwner editor Jeremy Wolfe talks to ACT Research’s senior analyst Tim Denoyer. The two met up in Columbis, Indiana at ACT Research's Vital Market Seminar in August.

They discuss overcapacity in the for-hire trucking sector, how that has affected private fleets, which added equipment to keep freight movement in-house. This in-sourcing "dragg[ed] out the freight recession," Denoyer noted.

But in a "reversal" from that trend, "Private fleets are starting to reduce their orders for tractors, particularly daycabs...and sell the daycabs at elevated rates," Denoyer said.
