The new chargers include the A200/300 All-in-One chargers for public charging, the MCS1200 Megawatt Charging System for heavy-duty trucks, and the Charging Dock Dispenser for depot charging.
ABB E-mobility has expanded its EV charging portfolio with three new offerings, including the field-upgradable A200/300 All-in-One chargers, the MCS1200 Megawatt Charging System for heavy-duty vehicles, and the Charge Dock Dispenser for depot charging.
"The EV charging landscape is evolving beyond point products for specific use cases — we're building platforms that deliver consistent usability, reliability, and scalability across the entire charging ecosystem,” said Michael Halbherr, CEO of ABB E-mobility. "By implementing this modular approach with the majority of our R&D focused on modular platforms rather than one-off products, we've created a charging portfolio that delivers higher quality and higher consistency to end-users and service personnel.”
The new chargers are meant to meet the needs of three market segments: public charging, public transit, and transport and logistics.
The A-Series All-in-One chargers are ideal for public charging, according to the company, because of their field-upgradable architecture that lets users start with the A200 (200kW) charger and upgrade to 300kW or 400kW options later. Meanwhile, the Charge Dock Dispenser is a strong starting point for public transit because it can support pantograph-, roof-, and pedestal-charging options. The Charge Dock Dispenser can also offer 490 ft. of installation flexibility between the cabinet and dispensers for larger fleets, with each dispenser maintaining up to 500A of output. Finally, the MCS1200 Megawatt Charging System is designed for heavy-duty vehicles and can deliver up to 1,200 kW of continuous power, the company said. It also has a single-outlet design to offer drivers the energy their trucks need during their mandatory breaks, and there are Dual CCS and MCS options available, too.
Like all of ABB’s chargers, each new charger also includes specific architecture that separates it into four distinct sub-systems that can be updated and tested independently. These sections include the user experience domain, power delivery domain, mechatronic domain, and cloud domain.
"This launch represents a milestone, completing the transition of our portfolio to a new technology generation," said Halbherr. "Our platform-based approach and telecom-style system architecture have enabled us to develop and launch five distinct products in just one year, a pace that would have been impossible with traditional point-product development methods."
Additionally, ABB’s portfolio lets customers configure their branding elements through the HMI Brand Configurator, including colors, logos, app icons, messaging, tone of voice, and language options.
