FedEx orders 150 Blue Arc EV trucks

The delivery company order a number of the EV trucks from The Shyft Group after testing the vehicles on delivery routes in Memphis, Tennessee.

FedEx has ordered 150 Blue Arc EV Trucks from The Shyft Group after an initial testing period with the vehicles. The company will integrate these EV vehicles into their pickup and delivery fleets throughout the U.S.

“As we work towards the phased electrification of our entire global pickup and delivery fleet by 2040, FedEx is eager to incorporate new and efficient electric vehicle models that meet the demands of our diverse network,” said Pat Donlon, vice president of Global Vehicles, FedEx Express. “We look forward to bringing the Blue Arc into our growing portfolio of electric vehicles in service around the world.”

In a press release, The Shyft Group stated that FedEx tested the Blue Arc trucks on delivery routes in Memphis, Tennessee, where the vehicles served on 8-10 hour routes and worked in conditions ranging from 95-105 degrees F.

Despite these conditions, the company said that the Blue Arc trucks were efficient and could regenerate 20-30 kW of power through their regenerative braking system, while also displaying easy maneuverability and driver comfort.
