Michelin expands X Line Grip D tire lineup with retread, new size options

The expanded portfolio includes a new pre-mold retread and additional sizing options, giving fleets more ways to extend casing life and performance.

Michelin has added a pre-mold retread and expanded size offerings to its X Line Grip D commercial truck drive tire line, which launched in 2025, broadening availability of the tire for fleets operating in long-haul and regional service.

“Fleets have validated the performance of the Michelin X Line Grip D tire in real-world conditions, and now we are expanding that same trusted performance through an additional size offering and a retread solution engineered to deliver the same performance as the new tire," said Yahn Heurlin, VP of B2B Marketing, Michelin North America.

A key component of the offering is the Michelin DURACORE casing, which is designed for durability and multiple retread cycles. Michelin said the casing is engineered to support up to four retreads and a total service life approaching one million miles, helping fleets maximize casing value and reduce tire replacement costs.

The new pre-mold retread uses the same tread pattern and compound technology as the original tire, according to Michelin. The company said the retread is designed to maintain traction, wear characteristics, and rolling resistance performance while extending the usable life of the casing.

The X Line Grip D features a directional chevron tread design intended to improve grip in wet conditions while balancing fuel efficiency and tread life. Michelin reported the tire delivered 20% more mileage than its XDN2 drive tire in an internal fleet study and posted lower rolling resistance than comparable products evaluated during company testing.

The Michelin X Line Grip D retread and expanded tire sizes are now available in North America.
