Barnwell House of Tires highlighted several Goodyear medium-duty truck tires with sustainability features at a recent event hosted by the New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS).

Among the products on display was a size 315/80R22.5 Goodyear Endurance WHA waste haul tire, which features a soybean oil-based tread compound. According to Scott Weeden, vice president of sales for Barnwell House of Tires, the dealership has monitored the tire's performance across multiple New York City fleets.

"We have customers who are interested in utilizing products that are having a safe impact on the environment," Weeden said. "Goodyear has done a great job of creating and developing products that not only perform but are also environmentally sound."

Weeden said Barnwell supports a range of municipal and commercial fleets throughout the New York City area, including refuse and school bus operations. He noted that the Endurance WHA's retreadability, combined with its soybean oil-based tread compound, can help fleets meet sustainability goals without sacrificing performance.

Barnwell House of Tires shared its booth with NAPA at the event, and Weeden said the co-branding reflected a common focus on helping fleets reduce operating costs while supporting environmental goals.

"Tires are generally a top-three cost in fleets, so reducing that number has a huge impact on a fleet’s balance sheet. We work really hard to keep fleets running optimally in New York City.”

Barnwell House of Tires has attended the DCAS Fleet Show for nearly a decade. This year’s event took place at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in the Queens borough of New York City.
