Hunter automates wheel balancing tasks with Road Force WalkAway

Hunter Engineering has introduced the Road Force WalkAway wheel balancer, designed to speed up tire service by automating tasks like inflation and balancing tasks, which the company says reduces four-tire changeover times by as much as 45%.

The core feature of the new product, the WalkAway Inflation System, automatically disconnects the air chuck once inflation is complete and immediately begins the balance spin. This automation allows technicians to handle other tasks like prepping hubs or changing additional tires while the machine inflates and balances assemblies in the background.

When paired with a basic tire changer, the Road Force WalkAway can complete a four-tire set roughly 29% faster, saving about 10 minutes per job. Using it with Hunter’s Maverick or Revolution tire changers increases the savings to 12 and 15 minutes, respectively. The system also introduces a compact two-piece hood that allows the balancer to sit 4.5 inches closer to the wall, a hood angle sensor for smoother operation, and updated control software.
