SKF increases focus on trailer OE wheel end market with extended warranty packages

Nov. 20, 2014
SKF has announced the launch of its new premium wheel end system extended warranty packages, under the SKF Trouble-Free Operation (TFO) program, for both the Trailer OEM and retro fit markets.

SKF has announced the launch of its new premium wheel end system extended warranty packages, under the SKF Trouble-Free Operation (TFO) program, for both the Trailer OEM and retro fit markets. With this SKF TFO program enhancement, Trailer OEMs and fleets can choose extended warranty options for up to seven years, based on the components in the package.

In enhancing the SKF TFO extended warranty wheel end system, SKF has evaluated and ensured compatibility of its components with the leading automatic tire inflation system (A.T.I.S.), the Meritor Tire Inflation System (MTIS) by P.S.I. SKF is currently a factory first-fit on many U.S. truck manufacturers with the SKF Scotseal PlusXL and TF hubcaps, and given the increasing utilization of A.T.I.S., it was critical to make sure that the TFO platform works well with the proven, industry leader in A.T.I.S., protecting nearly two million tires on trailers today.

“The industry has been demanding wheel end products that work together and complement each other, especially when it comes to warranties,” said Scott Simmonds, vice president of heavy duty sales at SKF. “Fleets want to know that they can use the best products without having to worry about conflicting warranties later on.”

The SKF TFO extended warranty wheel end system package offers several advantages for OEMs and fleets. The package does not require customers to purchase pre-assembled kits. Instead, customers can continue to purchase and install product as they do today. Fleets can reduce sourcing by using the SKF TFO wheel end system on all trailer applications. Additionally, the SKF TFO extended warranty wheel end system package typically includes an SKF Scotseal Plus XL wheel seal, SKF premium tapered bearing and SKF TF hubcap. The wheel end system components can be used with proven industry spindle nut designs and lubricants.

The new wheel-end solutions will be available in January of 2015 for trailer OEMs and fleets.
